Answer

It depends upon the TYPE of source you are citing.

Here are some common types of sources. Click for one MLA instructions from Diane Hacker's site:

The library has a quick MLA guide (2 pages in PDF format).  This summarizes the major types.

NOTE: The instructions above are creating citations for your Works Cited page.  You will also need to insert "in-text citations" near your quoted words and paraphrases in the text. 

It may help to see an EXAMPLE of an MLA style paper.
