How do I find eBooks on history?
Answer
You can use databases devoted to eBooks, or search in MegaSearch and limit to eBooks.

1. Databases devoted to eBooks
- eBooks on EBSCO is the biggest, with books on all subjects
- Salem Press: History All its books are on history
- American Decades might be interesting for 20th-21st century US history.
- ABC-Clio has some history titles
- Gale eBooks is best for topic overviews (from encyclopedias) on all topics, plus other books.
These thematic databases integrate chapters from many eBooks
- Modern World History
- Ancient and Medieval History Online
- American Indian Experience
- African American Experience
- Latino American Experience
- Pop Culture Universe
This academic database has articles and eBooks
- JSTOR
- To when prompted to sign in, type Pima under Find your institution.
2. MegaSearch
Search across (almost) all of our eBooks. This will search the full text of each book.
- Enter your search terms, and search.
- You must limit the results to eBooks
- In the left margin, scroll down to Format.
- Show More. Then click eBooks, and Update.
How do eBooks differ from printed books?
- Publishers and and databases may limit the numbers of people who can simultaneously access an eBook.
- Most allow generous printing and copying of material, but there may be limits.
- You can peruse a book in your browser (after logging into the database with MyPima credentials).
- But to download a book you often need special digital rights software like Adobe DRM. This is a hassle to set up, but may be worth it.
- Just be prepared for different databases to operate differently.
